Lupus Research Alliance

A real-world course experience combining the acquired skills and knowledge from throughout the NYU SPS Masters program in Public Relations and Corporate Communications and applying it to an organization in need of effective communications solutions for business growth.

The objective of this project was to engage and activate key audiences to get involved with the Lupus Research Alliance, an organization that exists to improve the lives of people affected by lupus through the power of science. These key audiences were identified based on demographic data indicating groups that were most affected by lupus, namely: young people, women, people of color, and the medical community. In a working group of 21 people, we were divided into groups of 5 and 6, with my group analyzing the LRA's current strategy in engaging people of color and recommending more direct approaches to the media outlets and networks that are predominantly occupied by these groups.
